PTO Meeting Summary April 17, 2013
Treasurer's Report—approximately $15,000 balance as of 3/31/13--$920 profit from pizza kit sales--$7,000 check to parish
to be disbursed this week
Old Business
Earth Day—all wear shirts—tree planting—plants from Bonnie Plant company
Chuck E Cheese check—still waiting for 2008 and 2013 checks
“Field Day” at Flames gym will be on Thursday June 6th for all of the students
Walk-a-thon: portion to charity? Beth proposed portion of pledges be donated to Hunter Hospitality House
this year— group was in agreement. Pledge sheet will go out the first week of May
Monica will talk to students about the Hunter Hospitality House as the charity—walk will be 5/24 with 5/31 as rain date
Gift of book for each child…from book fair proceeds—discussion as to where to order the books for students from
catalog or flyer from Scholastic, Kim will check with Scholastic regarding use of “Scholastic dollars”
Principal’s Report
? AR cost is now $1049 per year—PTO will pay to renew
? School Committee discussed marketing—idea to get a committee to work with Kelli C.—brochures and
information packets are being prepared. Mrs. Appel is meeting with printer to have these done
? Kinder Round-Up is 4/18
? 7 students from preschool are coming to kinder and 4 new are coming to round up for testing
? 4/23 Mrs. Appel is meeting with finance committee to discuss the bus
? Bingo is still being discussed with Fr.
? Annual report needs to be resubmitted with more detail by 4/23
Teacher's Report
? Book Fair was a success—kids loved it, suggestion to reduce fair to 3 school days plus the weekend next year.
? Looking forward to Earth Day—students are decorating bags for Meijer
? 4th grade tested to pedometers and students love them
? Core Curriculum has come out for Science
Fundraising
Proceeds from bowling--$2,080 profit
Start planning for next year @ May meeting… bring ideas
After School Enrichment Programs—Jitterbugs fee is being donated back to the school by Sandi J
New Business
Need coordinator for putt-putt—Mrs. Appel will call about setting a date—PTO pays for golf and ice cream
Teacher/Staff appreciation week May 6-10
? Monogrammed key lanyard will be gift to teachers
? Daily breakfast
? Friday 5/10 lunch provided—Matt M offered to cater
Fr. Acervo 5th Anniv of the Priesthood (5-10) Celebration will be Sunday 5-19 -13 @ 4pm in the Fr. Hogan Center
